The world’s first art-themed concept store has landed in Hong Kong. The Van Gogh SENSES store at 1881 Heritage in Tim Sha Tsui was created by shipping entrepreneur Reynold Li as an art themed concept store, liberally supported by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the store aims to present the work of Van Gogh to the masses. The goal is for people to experience Van Gogh’s art through the five senses; sight, sound, taste, smell and touch. This enables the work to cross boundaries and attract people from all walks of life to immerse themselves in the art world.

The interior pays homage to Van Gogh’s paintings but with a twist. His infamous self portrait is recreated in macaron dummies, a replica of his sunflower painting hangs on the wall, and floral arrangements by Gary Kwok enrich the environment with beautiful blooms. The store then recreates Van Gogh’s masterful creativity in fine dining ware, gifts and florals available for purchase allowing your own personal piece of his genius.
SENSES own selection of cake, coffee and fine dining plates inspired by the artists vivid imagination illustrate the power of art in transcending boundaries and generating new experiences. Macy Lai the executive chef, with 15 years restaurant experience, tells a story with her menu, embracing and interpreting the inner life of Van Gogh in a truly unique way.
