There’s always something special about a neighbourhood tea room.
More than just a quick place to get hydrated, it serves as an intimate haven for you to connect with people and its surroundings. Homegrown tea purveyor BASAO Tea‘s debut tea bar in Moon Street sets a prime example of just that. Found in one of Wan Chai’s more tranquil pockets, the diminutive space serves fine teas complemented by a vibrant range of tea-infused desserts in a cosy, intimate location.
The serene interior is a contemporary take on the traditional tea house, adorned with a minimalist palette of tactile marble, pristine white tone and warm wooden notes. A bar area is delicately added to the balmy scene where tea aficionados can enjoy professional brewing techniques performed on-site by tea masters. While you can sit comfortably inside the cafe and enjoy some quiet moments, you can also take your cup outside and bathe in the sun on the outdoor bench while enjoying a view of the charming neighbourhood of Star Street.
For those looking for something new, BASAO’s tea collection ranges from the traditional to the innovative. Apart from its exclusive series of black tea, green tea, and oolong brewed by its experienced tea masters, the tempting menu also includes chilled bottled tea, Japanese matcha, traditional blends and CHAJITO specialties. Among its signature offerings, we highly recommend the Lingia Second Flush originated from the Himalayan foothills of India if you are after a spicy note. If you have more of a sweet tooth, the refreshing Seaside Honey from Taiwan will be your cup of tea. Pair with a homemade tea cake roll, BASAO’s housemade tea ice cream, tea crystal, or a Belgian waffle drizzled with housemade tea syrup to complete your tea-flavoured journey.
