What inspired your current collection with Hermès Home?

The triptych was inspired by the simple joy of walking through a city and watching how light falls onto things in different ways. The Tartan and Herringbone come from the joy of looking at how things are made, while Promenade au Faubourg is the story of wandering in the Hermès home of Paris.

What’s your favourite city?

Paris. I like its rhythm, light and shape. It is my second home of sorts.

What’s your favourite thing to do during your free time?

When I am in Paris and not working, I like to sit and watch the world go by – the people, the clouds, the birds, the traffic – and so I often go sit in a park, my favourite being Square du Temple.

What’s your favourite place?

My favourite place is to be by the sea, but that’s not always possible.

What is a book that you always re-read?

The only book that I have read multiple times is Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. I also re-read the works of John Berger, Seamus Heaney and T.S Elliot.

Which exhibition has recently made an impression on you?

Recently, James Turrell’s 67 68 69 at the Pace Gallery New York made me stop and look again.

What is your favourite form of architecture?

As a typology, I like a shed or a stone shell of a building or a castle. The two spaces that are in my thoughts at the moment are the Grand Central Station concourse and the Musée de l’Orangerie – they are remarkable voids.
